Selling stuff on eBay - how does it work?

    Hi everyone,

I am wanting to sell some of my stuff, such as bed, baby cot, L shaped sofas, washing machine, etc on eBay. So how does it work? Would I be charged some sort of fee by the owners? Is it worth selling it online rather then advisting it on our local paper or notice board at the shopping centers. What do you think? Thoughts and information needed.

Selling on eBay is pretty easy, you can go to the "How to sell" section to find out more. You do get charged fees and you do need to accept PayPal as a payment method (as well as other payment methods that you are happy to accept) which means if a buyer pays with PayPal you will get charged more fees. You will be able to find out about fees in the How to Sell section I'm pretty sure.

You could always try advertising in your local paper or Trading Post first to save you going through the whole auction process. Then if they don't sell, you could put them on eBay.

If listing them on eBay, choose a minimum starting bid that you would be happy with in case you only get one bid. Don't start too high though or it may put people off. I recommend 7 day listings - anything shorter and you won't get enough exposure, anything more and people tend to lose interest.

    Best of luck!!
