    My pooch is going deaf

My 13 yo pooch is going deaf. It has really gotten bad in the past 2-3 weeks. She doesn't hear me open the door or me approaching her. I go and see if she is still alive and it startles her. I call her name in my normal voice and she doesn't hear. I need to raise my voice and call her and a few times at that too.

I'm so hating her aging process.

How often should i be taking her to the vet, now that she is getting worse (that is older). I don't want her to be in any pain (if she is). i feel so sorry for her.

Awww, hugs to you. So is our dog he is 16 now. We call him 'old boy'! He is so grey and pretty much sleeps all day, apart to go to the toilet, drink water & eat dinner (which he winges for about 5pm everyday)
He sleeps near the garage door & I can walk right past him to go to the car & he is sound alseep! Sometimes though I think he has a bit of selective hearing at times

My parents Jack Russel is the same, you walk up behind her, she gets a fright, etc. She is also going blind and loses my mum and wanders around the house looking for her. I don't think that there will be pain involved thoughin the hearing department.
It's just a bit of extra TLC, nice warm bedding in winter, etc. It is sad to see a pet in their twilight years but it also a testament of what a wonderful owner you have been and given then a fabulous full life.
