DS was on the 97th percentile for weight and height when he was born.
Hes still up around 97th for height, but is now on 25th for weight.
From 6mths to 8mths he gained just under 500gm
From 8 months to 10mths he lost 300gm
He eats well, 3 x solids per day, 2 bf, 2 bottles (usually 1 EBM and 1 formula)
What could cause this - is it possible that it might be a food allergy or intolerance? He doesnt show any obvious syptoms or allergy reactions.
Is ten months too late for a food allergy to becom apparent?
When did he start moving? Is he really active? I know DD2 gained 400g from 9m-12m and that was exactly when she started crawling. She lost her belly and was also teething so became really picky with food.
Could it be that he is just settling in to his body shape? If you have tall, lean genes it may be that his weight is just settling down into what it should be.
Is he otherwise happy, alert, developing as he should be? Are there any other casues for concern? If he has intolerances he would most likely be grizzly, have tummy issues, skin issues etc.
hes moving and growing (he's 77.5cm @ ten months) a lot.
Hes been unwell but not sick enough to account for the weight.
DS1 did a similar thing but his was at 5-6 months and it gradually picked up again. So maybe that, but 2 people in 1 day asked me if he was anemic I think hes pale just becuase I am, plus hes teething and has been a bit unwell.
Hes had tummy stuff going on for the past 2-3 weeks but was put down to teething and 1 bout of gastro (cos older DS had the same thing).
Not sure. I think its normal for him but will wait and see what happens I guess?
I would probably wait until he is over the gastro and teething issues and see if he is still having tummy problems. Maybe then look at eliminating things from his diet to see if they make a difference.
Taking the teeth, gastro, moving all into consideration that might account for it. If your instincts tell you there is something wrong though then I would get him looked at.
