Your bubs wil be free to fly...I suggest letting bubs suckle or if you are not BF let bubs have a bottle or dummy for take off and landing...it can jsut help with thier ears.

I have flown heaps wiht the kids and as long as they are occupied they will be fine!

Best of luck and enjoy your babay and wedding

all good - babies are ok to fly

I too have flown with both my girls - and the younger they are the easier it is!!

As boomba said - if you are breastfeeding it will be wonderful for keeping bubs settled for takeoff and landing, and for times of being unsettled

One thing that is annoying is the baby change tables in the toilets - they are tiny, and are really hard. I always took an extra wrap with me to put underneath them

    HTH!!

Hey I kinda have the same issue. Bub is due mid-June and we are getting married late August. We are planning on Thailand for our honeymoon and taking bub with us.
I do know that there is no issues with bub's flying as long as they are healthy - my cousin got her passport and flew 'home' to Vanuatu at 2weeks old...
At least your flight will be a lot shorter than ours!

Hey, I've just recently flown with my newborn and although I was soooo nervous, he was an absolute angel.

I gave him a dummy on take-off and then fed him to sleep in the air. He slept the rest of the way!

    Good luck!!

There is no rule to flying with a newborn I have done it from Melbourne to Canada mmm 12 times.. i believe.

Feed when taking off and landing if you can. I personally never did either as kids were always asleep and they never had ear troubles.

Dont pack the kitchen sink you wont need it.. keep it simple and managable for you to carry

Baby Bjorn or sling is fantastic.

Keep up your fluids if you are feeding as I tended to get dehydrated on the plane.

    You will do great!!

Flying with a newborn would be much easier than flying with a toddler!

You'll be fine...I'll also be doing the same when our #2 is 8 weeks old....just have to get her a passport first!

    Enjoy your little holiday

    Hi!

We flew from Darwin to Adelaide when DD was 9 weeks old and she did fine. I made sure I was able to feed her when we took off and landed and she slept the whole way I was very grateful as I was worried she might cry a lot and annoy other people, which while I know I shouldn't care, I was worried about a lynch mob developing lol. Especially because flying from Darwin to Adelaide usually means catching a flight at the dumbest hour of the night/morning if you don't want to pay $500 and up per person one way, so sleep is something everyone wants on those flights!

I agree with everyone else when they say feed taking off and landing to help ear adjustment, and make sure you have everything you need within easy reach.

Also, depending on the airline you fly with, even if your baby is a newborn they will ask you to pot a seatbelt on your baby. They did with me and DD, and although she was only 9 weeks and sleeping they made me 'sit' her on my lap and put the extra seatbelt on her. I had her in her hug-a-bub sling and they said it wasn't good enough or safe. Um, I think the sling would have been better at keeping her safe during turbulence rather than a stupid lap strap seatbelt! They also said I had to keep the belt on her while feeding her...yeah, they said that. Needless to say that went right out the window as soon as we started preparing for take off and DD needed to be fed.

Be prepared and do what ever you need to keep your baby safe, happy and calm

We flew with our 7 week bubba from Melb to Darwin. I also have terrible ear problems so was really worried. Turns out he was an angel!

I found that if he was feeding or asleep take off and landing were fine. He didn't use a dummy when he was asleep and didn't have any problems. The one landing where he was awake was a bit of a nightmare but only for a few minutes. If you can get a dummy in without waking up the baby then go for it. Otherwise sleeping is good.

I'd also strongly recommend using a sling. Once you check the pram in you have to carry bubs to the gate then hold them on the plane. A sling is great to get from check in to the gate and then to free your arms on the plane whilst they sleep.

You will be fine - they adapt better than you think.

    Cheers,
    Fiona
