My DS has just started doing this too - he's 14 months. It sure is ear piercing! Sorry, I'm not sure what to do about it. I've just assumed he enjoys making this new noise, and the novelty will wear off at some point.

DD1 still does it, and even worse - DS joins in and they get to exactly the same pitch.

OMG. Its freakin horrid. I hate it. I give them 2 warnings and if they don't stop it, they get sent to their rooms.

I used to say, 'too noisy' to Natalie when she shrieked too much. I was serious about it, didn't ever treat it like a game and it usually worked ok. If I could stand it I would ignore it too.
Sometimes it bit me on the bum - she would occasionally shout "TOO NOISY!!!"

My ds started this at the same age and he still does it now occasionally

I found the best thing to do was to either just tell him no and not make a big deal about it or just ignore it. Because the few times I did get annoyed with him doing it, he did it even more

The worst (but funniest) time that he does it, is when we are out shopping and he screeches at the top of his lungs and all the old grannies spin around real fast to see where that horrid noise came from hahahaha (i try not to laugh in front of ds)
