How early did you get induced or deliver with Gestational Diabetes?

Hi Just wondering if there is anyone on here that was induced or had to deliver early (natural or c-section) early due to gestational diabetes?

I am booked in for the 12th of May (which is 38w + 6)

I am currently having CTG's twice a week and I am on medication twice a day - controlling my carbs and so far bubs is measuring perfect and the placenta and umbilical cord are fine! I have lost 2.5kg since being told about my GD, but my OB has still mentioned we may deliver earlier.

    Thanks

I had Gd with all 4 of my kids but had insulin with the last 3..

Ds1 was meant to be induced but i beat them to it at 39 weeks
Ds2 came at 37 weeks when my waters broke (cs)
Ds3 was born via Elective CS at 38 weeks
DD1 came a little earlier at 36 weeks due to my placenta starting to fail

i was induced right on 40 weeks. the ob offered to induce me at about 38 weeks but i declined. i was having twice weekly monitoring in the last week or two & was measuring just fine. i didn't want to be induced - esp with the ctg results being good - but managed to hold out for my EDD.

are you hoping to hold out for a bit longer? there's some good information around, incl on here, to help if you want to put your case to them.

I was not induced nor was it suggested for either DS or DD2 despite DD1 being stillborn (and thus, combined, making me a *higher risk*) My GD was insulin 4 times a day with DS and only at night with DD2. With this pregnancy it is only at night too. Because I am well controlled otherwise there is no mention or suggestion of induction. DD2 was a VBAC too.

DS was spontaneous labour at 38w6d, DD2 was spontaneous labour at 39w2d.

I had GD but it was controlled via diet & exercise. No induction offered & none thought necessary by my OBS. (Ended up being 9 days over due.)

    Hi Krikkit

I GD with DS (diet controlled) and DD2 (insulin dependent).

Both pregnancies with GD my babies measured 'large' and stressed out the Ob and endocrin enough to want to induce me. I was induced at 38 weeks with DS (with cervidil - it wasn't a really positive experience and took 3 days before he was born). DS was born weighing 3.8kg which I did not think was overly large since my DD1 (who I did not have GD with) was also 3.8kg when she was born after a spontaneous labour at 39 weeks. They referred to him as a large baby though, even after he was born.

With DD2, I was booked in for a c-section at 38 weeks 4 days as she was footling breech and also 'extremely large'. I beat them to it by 3 hours by going into natural labour and dilating to 9cm in 45 mins. They gave me an injection in my tummy to stop my labour and gave me a c-section as it was too risky to let my waters break with her being footling breech. She was 4.1kg when she was born, but I still don't think that is HUGE, apparently it is.

A friend of mine was induced 2 days after her due date. Was supposed to be on her actual due date but they postponed it.

I was diagnosed with GD with DD2 - diet controlled only. I managed to avoid induction and went into spontaneous labour @ 39w 4d. I was a public patient and 2 of the 4 obs I encountered wanted me induced by 37 weeks regardless....luckily I was able to avoid seeing them after our initial encounters!
DD2 was 3.96kg and it was a great birth - she was in proportion and no issues at all! Good luck!
