Just wondering what happens at your house EAster morning. I have DD1 is 2.5yrs and DD2 10mths. So this the first year DD1 is into Easter bunny but not sure of what to do. We will be at my mums but that makes no difference. I want to do an easter egg hunt (well without all the eggs, I have little books she will be hunting for) outside but don't want to be doing that as soon as she gets up (anywhere from 6.30am).
Anyway just after ideas of how easter morning works in your house.
We do the egg hunt. Always have. Lol, my kids wake up, hunt for eggs, eat them for breakfast, lunch & dinner with other food between.
Its only the one day a year, so I let them at it all the way
If there are any left over (they don't get many) they are limited to one a day after.
This year we're buying them a bunny as well, as DD2 isn't too keen on chocolate.
When DD was little, one parent would distract while the other did E.B duties out in the back yard. As she got a bit older, the E.B had to visit before we went to bed because she would get up literally at the crack of dawn and expect to glimpse chocolate offerings out the window LOL.
One thing my mum did that was always nice ( and I think probably dates from a time when the emphasis was less on chocolate eggs) was she (well the E.B) would leave a fresh egg at each child's place on the table with a funny face drawn on it in texta. Then she would take the eggs away to cook them and she put food colouring in the water, so on Easter morning we always had a coloured "magic" egg softboiled for breakfast.
Thats a dilemma I have this year. I'd normally go hide the eggs the night before, but we have a dog out there & I don't think they'd survive til morning! lol Oh well, she's blocked off from the veranda & verandah garden, so we'll just have to keep them out there.
I like the food colouring idea MD, might try it
Our easter egg hunts were never outside. The easter bunny always left a trail from our bedroom door which lead to our special big bunny. I do the same for our kids, therefore, no worry about the weather or animals getting to them!
we are doing one for the first time this year (a hunt i mean).. i think we will just do the trail from the door and keep it inside. maybe leading to the basket witha book and a choccy in it.
i love the idea of the soft boiled eggs.. DD1 has an egg allergy though! :-( she is growing out of it so maybe next year.
