Question Use of magnets during pregnancy

Hi, I've been told in the past that you can't use magnets as pain relief etc during pregnancy, for what reason I don't know? I have weak knees and sometimes I like to wear knee straps which happen to have magnets sewn into them, does anyone know if they are ok to use during pregnancy?

don't know, that sounds crazy, but I wouldn't have the faintest idea.

maybe you can't use one of those matress underlay things with the magnets, because it would be around the baby, sureley your knees would be ok, check with docs/midwives.

I thought the whole ideal about magnets would be that they help circulation which would e good in pregnancy

thanks girls, I have heard it before from a natroupath and I googled it again last night and it does come up saying not to use them in pregnancy But knee straps with magnets in them I am not sure about, I will have to do some more checking I think...

Not sure about knee straps etc - ask your GP. As for magnets in general though, esp in pillows or underlays, not advised in the 1st trimester as there have not been any studies done to find out the effects.....I was told this in 2005/6.

    Thanks Vixstar,

I think I've decided it's better to be on the safe side and just not use them. I can tape up my knees instead of using a strap, it works out to be more expensive using 'one use' tape but who cares for peace of mind.

Thanks again to all the girls who responded to my quesstion.
