    She's one!

I'm so excited that my DD turned one today that I just had to share!

We've been reminising over the past couple of days, DH and I, thinking about where we were at each moment one year ago. The day of me sitting infront of the computer, too uncomfortable to move, downloading songs from my CDs into itunes, with an icepack on my belly because I was convinced bub was in a bad position, but instead was in the early stages of labour. The dash to the hospital at 3.30 in the morning, in pain, but still not realising it was labour because it ran across the top of my belly, even though I was due in four days time. At 7am, when the midwife suggested I start pushing if I felt I wanted to. At 11am, when she told me yet again that it wouldn't be long. I nearly slapped her. The whole time in the hospital, staring at a clock in front of me, put up on a wall without thinking that the labouring mother can see it and see how long she's been there . And at 11.15, when she told me I needed some help, and the forceps didn't seem so scary anymore, it was a case of please please help me deliver my baby. And at 11.49am, seeing her, my beautful baby, for the first time. Me with my mouth wide open thinking, she's here! Looking from DD to DH, making sure I wasn't seeing things and that beautiful, blissful moment, when DD was handed to me for the very first time, with me crying, so happy, so relieved to finally meet her.

One year on and she's a happy, laughing baby with a head full of curls. She hasn't had an easy year, with hip dysplacia diagnosed at 7 weeks, operation at 3 months, and the final brace being removed one month ago. But everyday her dad and I are filled with wonder and amazement and the things she learns and does. I am proud of her and proud of us too. One year ago everything was new and scary (how do I put her in the car??!!!) and now everything is simply second nature.

I love being a mum. It is the best, most rewarding thing in the entire world. Happy birthday to my munchkin xoxo
