is my girl already self concious?

DD1 is 4 in august, gorgeous little thing, but anytime we tell her she's beautiful or that she looks like a princess she's yells back at us and says no im not beautiful or no im not a princess.
i dont know if she's saying these things because she truley belives she's not beautiful or she does it just because she can IYKWIM?

she understands the concept of beautiful and a princess because whenever i straighten my hair or put on a dress she'll tell me im beautiful or that i look like a princess who lives in a castle.

have your daughters done this? what are your thoughts?

I think it is probably a common phase many kids go through. DS does it sometimes too.

DD is 2.5 and whenever I say to her "ooooh, you do look nice," on the very rare occasions when she is completely clean, has all her clothes on and has her hair brushed ... she carries on like a pork chop and says "no, no, no".

Ahhh I think its just a case of "whatever you say mum, I'm going to totally disagree with you"

I'm sure DS lives in opposites world most of the time!

DS told me tonight that he was Mammy and I was Liebling. He also told me he doesn't like chicken a la king, then that his dinner (chicken a la king) was yummy. He is not a little boy, he is a baby. Then if I agree he's a baby, he's a little man. And daddy a big man and mammy a GIRL.

I think it's just him trying to mess with my mind. I nearly ended up asking him to read me to sleep. It works too well, Liebs, it works too well!
