I hate my Close Carrier :(

I just received my Close Baby Carrier, and I'm quite sure I put it on correctly and DD HATES it. She arches her back and fusses.
Why is she uncomfortable in it, when everyone else's babies love it?
Also, my shoulders are aching from 5 minutes of using it.
I also find it very troublesome to tighten and loosen, the material always gets jammed in the rings.
Is it because I'm a really petite person, and it's too big for me?

    Ohhhh noooooooooooo.

You shouldnt have sore sholders using it, have you watched the website links that show you how to do it. (I dont seem to have DS2 as high as others do, as I cant seem to get it to sit that high properly but I have never had pain.

Have you made sure that the cross over bits are equal across baby's back and comfortable between legs?

Sometimes I have my DS not liking my close carrier (if that makes you feel better). He does the arched back and crying. It's at these times that I figure he's had enough of it (particularly if he's facing me - he's big enough to face outwards - loves seeing what's happening) or he's tired but not tired enough to admit that he wants to sleep (he fights sleep at the best of times).

I also find it very troublesome to tighten and loosen, the material always gets jammed in the rings.
Sometimes I find that I need to hold the rings/material at a particular angle for it to tighten or loosen properly (if that helps). I'm not overly tall - 165cm but am a larger size (16/18) top.

Feeb - I've watched the vid, I'm quite sure I'm doing it correctly..

BUT the material from my shoulders seems a bit loose, is it meant to be like this? How can I tighten this?? I keep trying with the rings, but they only tighten at the bottom, where the cross for the seat is.

Leckert - I think DD is the same... I think she finds staring at my shoulder really boring. Maybe she will like it when I'm walking around at the shops?

Just tried again, and DD seems to lean back quite far.. I don't think this is right? Again, can't seem to tighten the shoulder 'straps' though..
She pulls her hands out from under so she can suck her thumb..
She's only 4months, can I put her facing outwards? I know it says 5months.. has anyone tried with a younger baby?

I think I faced DS out from about 4 months - I know it was about a month earlier than they said to but DS was ready for it, strong neck control and is always wanting to know what's happening.

Too tighten the shoulder strap part I hold DS and carrier with one hand and pull one strap under DS's butt more then tighten that strap at the buckle then swap sides if you can get what I mean.

    Not everyone's bubs loves the CC...mine didn't

And I found it cumbersome and annoying to tighten and loosen too.
Half the battle with carriers is finding one you BOTH love and find comfy. Have a play and persist a little, but if it doesn't get any better, try another carrier

Mmm LimeSlice, I think you're right. This is my second sling... this search for the perfect sling is getting expensive!! Hopefully we find our match soon enough.

Leckert - Cheers, I'll try and see if I can tighten the shoulders.

Hopefully my next post will be a Hooray it works..

I've found that if its tightening the bit across their bottom, move your hand over to the other side of that piece of fabric (so if you are holding it towards the front, move towards the back) and pull from that angle - one seems to tighten the top, the other the bottom.

Move the straps so they are sitting OVER your shoulders, that should take care of the shoulder pain.

I just got mine today too!! had a bit of a play tonight, and DS seemed happy enough, he is 9 months and very used to being in the ergo. I am only 5ft and it is fine.. the straps are very long though, but I did expect that.

I also have an ergo which he loves, but I got the CC (at an awesome price) for bub #2.. not that I am even preggers yet

It didn't work for us either. DS found it too constricting, and I just couldn't adjust it so it felt comfortable.

`in the video, there didn't seem to be a lot of fabric hanging down below the rings, but when I wear it there are huge long 'tails' hanging down, and no matter how tight I made it, DS always sagged down too low.

I found it really disappointing, because it looked so great.

I have an ergo as well, which I have also been a bit disappointed with. It hurts the tops of my legs, and DS doesn't like it much either. Even though I'd like to be a babywearer, DS prefers to be in his stroller. Independent little Aquarian that he is!

I wish you luck in finding a carrier that works for you and your DS - it sure can be an expensive undertaking, although I hope that if I'm lucky enough to have another baby, s/he will like one of the ones I have.

Pandora - I tried a Ring Sling... total disaster, need superhuman strength to pul the material through the rings, so there's no way I can do it alone, and even when it's on, puts way too much weight on one shoulder.

Honeybee - I think we have the same problem... I just cannot get it to sit high enough and have tails down to my toes..

I've also noticed that despite it being perfectly positioned, it absolutely KILLS my back and shoulders.

Hmmm I'm so bummed about it.

shell1 - I hope your DD loves it, like 99% of babies seem to.. I just have bad sling karma or something.

Where do you have the cross section sitting on your back? It sounds like its up too high on your back.

ok so iv had Hannah is the close for the last two days

easy enough to put on..I find she leans to the side that the strap supports her head.is this ok?
when i take her out under her legs are a bit red,is this normal?

I find she loves it,falls straight to sleep, she will fuss and cry only is she is hungry or had enough Or when i first out her in it sometimes she fusses and tries to find the boob think she can smell the milk but i just get up bounce around and sway a bit and she goes to sleep

how long can u carry your bub around in it for? is it bad to do it for to long? or to much during the day
