    What do you think?

DD woke this morning with a little dot on her eye, looked like a mozzie bite, it started to go a little red but i expected that, she gets reactions to mozzies.
Normally a hard red lump with a little bit of redness around the area.

Well we went to MG today and the redness on her eye spread and then her eyelid went puffy, now my poor little princess looks like this:

Login | Facebook - this one the PURPLE is actually all red but you can see the swelling.

I gave her claratyne at 4pm which normally reduces any swelling or redness within about an hour or so, she went to bed at 7:30 the swelling hadn't gone down and the red looked a little bigger.

Do you think it's a bite, you can kind of see a darker mark on the eyelid, could it just be a more severe reaction to a mozzie as it's on her face?

If it's not down in the morning i am thinking it's off to the Dr's we go.

    My poor munchkin.

Geez I dunno... doesn't look nice whatever it is.

No chance of a possible spider bite at all?

Anything is a possibility, we live on 10 acres and as soon as the weather changes we get all sorts of critters, i hope not though.

DD had something similar last year but was also on torso and foot. I was told by the GP it was an allergic reaction to something but I continue to remain dubious. We gave her 5ml of phenergan which helped her.

To me, it doesn't present like a bite at all. Is it possible she has come into contact with a plant or other object she might be reacting to?

FTR, DD's came out mid morning then went and came out again a few hours later. This happened 3 times in 24 hours and hasn't happened again. We changed nothing.

It wasn't there when she went to bed but she woke up with it so i guess that rules out plants etc and there is nothing in her room that isn't normally there.
I can't see it anywhere else on her body.

It has been there all day, hasn't gone down or disappeared at all.

Mum said i used to get some pretty nasty reactions to mozzies so maybe that is just it and i'm being paranoid, outside of rubbing it she doesn't seemed fussed and doesn't seem to be in pain as such.
She went to bed ok, i have a mozzie repelling candle burning in her room for the night so hoepfully we can avoid any other bites.

What would i do without BB, it's driving me nuts... DP was going to take her to the Dr's tonight but we wanted to allow the claratyne to kick in first...

SIL just said her kids had similar reaction to Mozzies but never THAT bad... hmmmmmm got me thinking, she's a nurse and she's told me to keep a very close eye on it.

Don't think i'm going to sleep well tonight... anyone else got any ideas?

Thanks everyone.. Dr has said it's an ALLERGIC REACTION to a Mozzie bite, he said given her previous reactions they seem to be increasing in severity which can be normal for people with Allergies.

He has told me to use her steroid cream (she has this for eczema but only used it once) on it and continue to give calartyne for the next couple of days.
He has also given me a stronger medication so in the case of a more severe reaction or multiple bites on her face/throat etc we can give her that and then we are to take her to the SDr's the day after to see whats happening.

So i have started a thread with advice on keeping the little buggers away from her, if you have any ideas please pop over there and leave me some advice.

Thanks for the reassurance last night... i love BB
