5 weeks old and has a cold!

So what do I do with a 5 week old who has a cold.

I gave bubs some fess drops and (tried) the aspirator to clear out his nose - very traumatic for him (he screamed and screamed). That seemed to work for a little while. Last night he slept fine until about 1230 which was time for a feed anyway but then he couldn't settle back down after that. He was very sleepy but the blocked nose kept waking him back up. I ended up sitting in the loungeroom with him on my chest, but even the elevated position didn't seem to help much. Just before 4 I had a nice long warm shower with him which I'm guessing he liked because he started to fall asleep while we were still in there. After the shower he slept for about an hour. He's still feeding but only small bits at a time.

I'm really just wondering if there's anything else I can do for him.

Oh the poor little poppet! Maybe try a vaporiser in his room while he is sleeping, they really help to ease the congestion and I've found with my DS that elevating the cot mattress a little also helps. Other than that just lots of cuddles and bf's. GL I hope it clears up soon.
