    Toddlers and baths

My DD's bedroom is right across from the bathroom and the laundry is next to her room so I often do little jobs in DD's bedroom or in the laundry while DD is in the bath because I can see into the bathroom and watch her the whole time.

Tonight I was filling up the cat's food bowl so for just a moment I wasn't looking into the bathroom. The cat was in the laundry with me and we have a gate on the laundry door so DD can't get in. I heard a thump and thought it was the cat just landing after jumping over the fence to get out of the laundry, turned around to find DD running up the hall - naked and soaking wet.

DD is 2 years and 1 month old and tonight was the first time she's gotten out of the bath by herself. How old were your kids when they were able to get out of the bath by themselves?

Umm.. probably about that age? DS is always climbing out of the bath now, and DD1 stands, but never tries to get out ... thank god.

hmmm yep probably about that age.....oops no she was 2 1/2 - but that was only because we went from a single spa until then so really deep to our regular bath in our house.

DS can already get his leg over the bath so no doubt it won't be long for him, little monkey.

Probably about the same age I think....

I just put so many toys in the bath so help keep her more entertained - why would she want to get out of the bath then?

Oh Im glad thats what it was I came in to this thread thinking something worse had happened.

DS never climbed out of the bath until this year. Hes 4 and a half.
But our bath is very deep it wouldnt be easy to do.

DS2 on the other hand is already trying to stand up! He cant stand on his own yet, on the floor let alone in the bath! eeeek

DD2 has been doing it for a couple of months now and she is not quite 2. Surprising really as it is a deep bath.

DS, who will be 19 months on Tuesday, tries to climb out while I am there so no way can I leave him for a second. He also wants to stand up all the time in the bath and walks from one end to the other. Hates getting water on his face (this started about a month or so ago but up until then he'd been great!) so washing his hair is a drama. And the couple of times I've tried having him in the shower with me were disastrous. He climbs into and out of the bath (empty) while I'm having the shower. Thank goodness he can't turn on the taps by himself!

She has only done it once a few months ago - I went so troppo at her she hasn't done it since lol

Charlotte has been bathing by herself for a while, she rarely asks me to stay, usually tell me to go now rofl but she isn't a monkey in the bath and doesnt touch taps etc.

She did try to climb IN the bath first (at about 18 months), she fell in head first and came up looking like a wet cat - was hilarious - but scared her suficiently that she has never attempted it again

My son is 22months now and he's been able to climb out of our bath for a few months now, though our bath is sunk into the ground a little so its not to high to climb out. So for me I can't really leave him unattended yet cause i think its too slippery if he decides to quickly climb out (he is clumsy at the best of times already).

Probably about the same age.. At the moment we have an issue with DD climbing in and out and sliding in the tub *sigh* I just told them all that it would be quick showers only unless they stayed in the tub and played properly
