I am writing to see if anyone has experienced a loss like me. This week my husband and i and our 2 kids (7 and 3) lost a 19 week old baby due to amniocentesis complications. 10 days after a normal appearing amnio test i started leaking amniotic fluid in tiny amounts. i was admitted for a week of observation to hospital, and was confirmed to be very slowly losing fluid. We were told i had to stay in hospital for the rest of the pregnancy (21 weeks), leave my 2 kids at home without me, and have a 50% chance of this little baby reaching 32 weeks gestation. We lost our little baby on Monday 15th March 2010, a baby who was normal, had nothing wrong with it, and just got ruined because of the amniocentesis needle. I am 37 and we did not want to risk a disabled child. The loss is indesrcibable and i am working on healing myself physically and emotiaonlly, as well as my poor 7 year old son who is gutted. Hoping one day soon to be able to give him a healthy baby sibling.
I am so sorry for your loss, that is truly heartbreaking and my heart goes out to you and your family.
I havent experienced it myself but I do remember reading about one of the channel 9 news readers who lost a baby in the same way, dont know if it that helps at all, im sorry.
I dont know of anyone who has been through the same thing, but it must be so difficult. My m/c was a lot earlier so I cannot imagine your pain. For me the cause was most likely a fluke tragedy of genetics, I have to just consider it as something I could not have prevented, nobody's fault. I suppose that will be a difficult place for you to reach, but really, it was just a fluke tragedy from a routine procedure. Nobody's fault.
thinking of you as you go through the grieving process for your precious angel
oritsman - sweetie. I am so so sorry for the loss of your darling and precous baby and that you and your family are hurting so much right now. Please don't blame yourself, I know you will, but I hope in time you are able to find some sort of peace.
I don't know of anyone with your exact experience. I was in a similar position with my daughter Amelia at 22weeks where I was hospitalised for different reasons, expected to be there for the balance of the pregnancy, however long that would turn out to be, but given low probability for the pregnancy to get to even "viability". In the end I was only in hospital just over 24 hours before she decided to make her very early entry into the world. She, like your baby was perfect in every way, except she was here just far too early.
It might help to keep a journal of your feelings and to write down your birth experience for yourself. As bittersweet as it is now, those memories do fade and having them somewhere safe to reflect on might be important for you in time.
I hope you find a way through your heartache and grief. It is a demanding journey. Go gently..
