Hi, my daughter is 6 months old and fully breastfed. she has not taken any milk from a bottle. I am thinking of expressing some milk so I can leave her and my partner can look after her and was wondering if I should use a bottle or sippy cup? what are the advantages or disadvantages - I know I have left it late for her and hope she accepts the bottle/sippy cup. any advice woudl be great. thanks :-)
Hi!
Although I haven't been in your situation, I'll try to give a little bit of advice based on what I've experienced. I found that my DD's took a fair while to get used to the sippy cup (didn't really cotton onto it properly until about 10-12 months) whereas bottles they were fine from the start. I know some people find it difficult to get their babies onto bottles too. So what I'd suggest is introduce both. See which one she takes to the easiest and that may be your answer. There are some negative things going around about bottles after 12 months of age because of their teeth etc, but I don't think there's anything wrong with them prior to 12 months. If you're using EBM, then I can't imagine it would affect your supply. HTH!
I think a bottle. One designed for bottle and breast feeding (tommee tippee closer to nature). At 6 months i think it would be more about exploring the sippy cup rather than using it to drink. It is still good to introduce a sippy cup around now, but maybe just for water to get her used to it.
DS was both breast and bottle fed. but as soon as he was 6 months i introduced the sippy cup and he didnt have any problems with it. he got used to it straightaway.
i think we got the heinz ones, but any would do. i kept one cup for milk and another for water.
