    Is there any harm...

In giving DS some EBM in a cup?? I'm not trying to wean, I'm keen to BF until 2 years or older if he's happy to continue so I don't want to do anything that will jeopardise that in terms of him preferring EBM to bfing, and then risking that only expressing will kill my supply etc. But he's so fascinated when I drink something - he's always grabbing for the cup and I'm curious to see how he'd take it if I tried.
I gave him some carrot and broccoli sticks the other day, figuring he'll just play with it at this stage rather than any actually going into his mouth and that was fine, just a bit of fun... not really starting BLS properly until 6 mo though.
But is drinking from a cup okay?

I started giving DS water in a cup at about 6 months of age, I dont think there would be any harm in trying it

The ABA recommend using a cup for EBM as it doesn't affect BF as much as a bottle. So Definitely give him a cup and see what happens.

My bub is the same age and we are breaking all the rules. I gave him some food to play with too and he has picked it up, put it in his mouth, chewed swallowed and now is all about eating. So we are starting early cause he seems to want to - screaming at meals if he has no food, grabbing fistfuls and shoving them in his mouth. Anyhoo...I've also got a little sippy cup for him to play with. He can't use it yet, just tries to latch like on nipple..BUT loves cup feeding.

It is really messy at first though and it can go all down his chest at times cause he's pulling on the cup. So if you are going to use EBM you may find your jaw drop when it all ends up on the floor if you are not careful. I use a little water because of that - I want him to be okay with a bottle of EBM, or a cup or whatever because I'm a single mum and I *need* to have breaks for sanity so he has to able take a bottle/cup.

So a normal cup is preferable to a sippy cup? Or doesn't it matter?
