Severe letdown pains when not feeding

    Hi ladies

Little Barnaby is 7 weeks old and all is settling down well with the feeding, except for one issue.

I experience severe letdown pain in both breasts usually once or twice between every feed. Perhaps 6 times a day in total.

The feeling - like both boobs are badly bruised and somebody is punching and squeezing them mercilessly. Definitely a conversation stopper! It usually lasts 30 seconds, so it not just fleeting.

Strangely enough the pain is not as bad when letdown happens while B is actually at the breast, it is the in-between pain that sucks! You know, I'll think about him or hear a crying baby or have a change in temperature and BANG the pain starts following by milk flow.

I don't want to dose up on painkillres or walk around with hot packs as it's not constant... not sure what to do or if there is a bigger problem there?

    Thanks in anticipation

Do you need a bigger bra?? I'm wondering if you're getting pressure on ducts...

Awww hun, I had the exact same thing and it is just agony, often caught my breath and then those enormous things on my chest got bigger and rock hard . For me it took a while but eventually my boobies stopped letting down except when DD fed, although for me that was pretty horrid too. Probably not a helpful post as I dont have any answers but wanted you to know you arent alone.... I hope someone else has some answers for you

Thanks girls for your help, sorry i abandoned this thread as I haven't logged on for weeks!

All is fine now, no idea what the problem was but after about 2 weeks it settled down. Now there's just an occasional twinge
