    Horrible chesty sounding cough

We have had sickness in our household since Friday week... not fun!

DD (9 months) had a cold which turned horrible with a runny nose and eyes and a shocking chesty sounding cough. Her chest sounded clear and the Dr put her on ABs on Thursday as she ended up with a green nose. She has improved a lot but still has a horrible cough. She doesn't cough all the time but at least once an hour when she is awake.

DS(3yrs) developed a cold last week and was miserable. DD had given him the same thing and he spent the better part of last week on the couch. I took them up to the Drs Wednesday and both were said to be viral and that was fine. Tuesday night though DS was awake with almost a croupy sounding cough and could barely swallow. He was fine in the morning (besides the beginnings of a cold) Friday he had a temp in the morning and was shivering so I took him up to the Dr. Dr was a "bush Dr" and wouldn't give him anything as he said all the needed was Vit C and Zinc I am all for boosting immune systems and using natural products where appropriate but when he was sitting there with a shocker of a cough and looking terrible and a green nose I would have thought he "deserved" some form of ABs.

Anyway... the cold has almost cleared up. We have managed over the w/e with Panadol and Dimetapp but he still has this horrid cough that causes him to throw up if he has eaten. He can't laugh because he coughs out of control.

So my question is... do you think both or maybe just DS should go back to the Dr? From writing it all down I am thinking DS definately needs to go back but any thoughts would be appreciated! We have almost lived there the past week between me and the kids!

Yep i'd take them back, especially with green snot as that indicates infection.

When DD had a cold she had a nasty chesty sounding cough, BUT the mucous coming out her nose was clear, so i was told that the cough was just because of the mucous running down the back of her throat and sure enough as soon as her nose cleared up so did the cough.

Can you go and see a different dr?
