    Hi,
Based on my experience at my clinic (so it might be different), the final oop quoted is probably assuming you have already reached your threshold for the safety net, so you might not get quite so much back from medicare.
Also, it wouldn't include theatre, aneasthetist, doctor fees for EPU & transfer. Or any additional procedures like ICSI or whatever. Or additional meds.
Depending on your level of private health insurance, the additional cost could be minor or quite substantial.

hun if you have reached your medicare threshold thingy you will get about 80% back .
and the $1450 covers absolutly everything except the syneral spray and this can be bout from your chemist costs around $90-100
it covers your EPU,ET,ALL YOUR INJECTIONS.
the only thing i have ever been billed for is a bill from symbion for a couple of b/t i had done
you also only pay for embie storage after the first 2 yrs of having them there

if i remeber correcly my fet was about $500 550 but that was a total natural one
also if you go up the top to your search bar and type in WESTMEAD FERTILITY there is heaps of thread on the clinic that may help you better understand things
or if you want i could find the links for you >?

    hi hun,
well yes your $1450 does cover everything all except your syneral spray and you just buy that from your chemist.
it covers all things like drugs, epu, et,theater no extra cost at all its all in that one price and if i remember my fet all natural cost me $500-550

if your medicare thresh hold thingy is up there then you should get 80% of your money back
there are a lot of threads here on bb about westmead if you just search for westmead in your search bar or if you like i could go find them for you and copy the links.

some people just dont believe this price hun as its a big difference from other clininc as westmead is a non for profit org
if you need to know anything else id be happy to help.
    good luk.

Ferrals4 - Smithy's right - i underwent ICSI in 2007 (with DH requiring sperm aspiration) at WFC and paid NOT A CENT MORE than $1500 i was stoked - you pay them upfront, but the same day you can go to medicare and get the rebate OR you can chose to not pay a huge amount upfront, then medicare send you a cheque to give to the hospital for the rest (which we did) and so long as you provide them with the cheque promptly, there is no effect on your wait time, your cycle and definately not with your treatment.
I didn't have to pay for any other meds, and all BT's and/or US's were bulk billed. The only other cost (which i've included in the $1500 was to see the pre-referral Dr, which a month ago cost $415 upfront for DH and I, but after medicare rebate (which we went and claimed the same day), only ended up at $120.
The brochure WFC send out should actually break down all the costs including initial upfront fees and then the break down post medicare. I had them send me the booklet again only a month ago (cause we plan on using our Frozen emby to give our DD a little sis/bro this cycle whoo hoo!) and it included all costs for all possible treatments.
Don't be shocked by the costs. They are a non-profit FC so only charge for the treatment, it's not about anything else for them but helping families grow!
    Good Luck with it all.
