Ok so we have had Harvey the wonder dog for 4/5 year now.
we got him from the rescue. He was found is a box with about 4 dead puppies and at first they thought he was the mother.
Now he was desexed when we brought him home.
For about the forst year he would poo and wee inside and when ever we caught him we would growl at him and put him away from us.
my problem (or his) is that he still wee's inside, but we dont find it until much later.
For example our shower is broken so we are using the main bathroom and i have a mat on the floor, its been there two days and today i see dried pee on it, it was not there this morning when i took my shower (at 11)
then there is the spare rooms, we have a rule to shut all the doors so that he can not sneek in and pee, but when going into our new nursery i found he had peed on the shelving unit!!!!!!
He also pees on curtains.
DH calls him over to where he has done the mess but he runs off and sooks (he knows he is in trouble) but not for long as we do love him.
As soon as DH comes home he gets a chew and then we find the mess so its all a bit late
he doesnt do it every day, mostly on new things
It is driving me mad, DH jokes that he might wee on the baby when he comes!!!
He is not agressive and rolls over when a child approaches him, my nephew was even caught taking out his desexing stitches when we first got him home
Our dog still does that sometimes
make sure u take him outside every so often, try and teach him the word toilet or something that u want to use, say it come on go to the toilet and take him outside wait there and dont let him in untill he goes, he will soon learn, our dog did and so did mums by doing this.
There is lots of reasons he could be doing it also, a vet check up wouldnt go astray could be his bladder.
We put gates on all the spare rooms , even the smaller ones 20 bucks from big w works, so our dog cant get in,always pick up the bath mats dont leave them there.
there is spray u can get to sparay around to try and make them not like the smell so they wont go there.
Put some newspaper down ina certain area and put some of the drops/spray u can also get that smells like wee, try and get him to go there
hope something helps hun i hate finding dog wee around here too
hmmm tbh we have 'wee' issues too. it sounds to me like it is an emotional 'wee' problem rather than a physical (ie he likes the new bling lol). i can highly recommend getting in contact with a dog behaviouralist. we did with our dog (just via email) and it explained ALOT about her behaviour and how to manage it.
Our wee issue with Stella the Dawg appears to be anxiety related, but we have been told by our vet that because the rescue shelter desexed her really early (8 weeks) that her problem may be hormonal.
mebbe have a chat with your vet to discuss possible reasons and strategies to help him out...they have training in behaviour and stuff, we found ours to be pretty good with Stell Bell.
