What do I do with this little chestnut?

When I was in France years ago I loved the roasted chestnuts sold by street vendors.

Now, we don't get that many chestnuts on the Sunshine Coast - but I picked up a few at a stall the other day.

So hit me with your best chestnut recipes - something where I could keep them whole would be ideal

My DH just makes them for us roasted ... he cuts crosses on the flat side, boils them for 10 mins and then roasts them in the oven. I think the boiling thing is meant to make them easier to peel as well as the cross cutting.

DH lived in the UK for 2 years when he was a teenager so it brings back memories for him of cold winters ... its a nostalgic food I think.

I like them plain roasted, but would be interested to see if anyone else has anything more interesting they do with them
