sore nipples from comfort sucking

DS has always attached well, and I was vey lucky that i didn't get sore nipples in teh early days. However, a couple of times in the last week, I've ended up with sore nipples when he's in one of those comfort sucking moods. I think its because I have quite a fast flow so not sure whether he doesn't want to attach properly because he doesn't want a feed, itms, but I'm not sure what to do about it. They're particularly painful today because last night all he did was comfort suck for about 2-3hours, rather than have a proper feed (he did have a fair bit of wind last night so could explain it)

any tips to manage the comfort sucking? I keep trying a dummy but he's having none of it and whislt sometimes the sling will work, when he's in a mood like he was last night, the only thing that helps is to suck

I totally understand where your coming from

My DD wont take a dummy but she loves the boob and loves to comfort suck, i find that when she has bad wind she will want to have a suck as well, it comforts her but i am sure it makes the win worse, i find the sling works for me as wlel

but when she is in this mood and she gets frustrated on the boob i find i have to give her to DF as she wont settle with me coz she can smell the milk and will get frustrated that i am not giving her the boob
