Please I need your help on how to make Snugglepot and cuddlepie costumes for girls

So my sister (age 29) called me to ask me if I could make her and her friend (age 30) costumes for a dress up party next weekend. The theme is story book characters and they have picked Snugglepot and Cuddlepie.

So tell me, what would you make the little hat that the girls wear? Its a gumnut with some sort of flower material coming out of it like hair. Hopefully this link to a FB page works .

I am going to make them skirts that look like they are made out of gumnut leaves. Not sure what I will make them out of yet. Will head to spotlight tomorrow for some inspiration.

Looks like green beanies and fleshcoloured leotards would be OK.
or just the green beanies! If its that kinda party

To make gumnut leaf skirts, I'd use felt? Or taffeta with an overlay of shiny chiffon ...

Its getting cold in Sydney so I will suggest the fresh coloured leotards! LOL!

only just saw this! I was going to say a beret for the hats... brown ones. and agreed with the leaf like shapes of felt or any heavy green material (dark green) for the skirts.
