We now have ducks!!!

Today we picked up two ducks!! A boy and a girl. They're gorgeous!!! So cute! Our friend was giving them away so that was lucky!

They're in now with our 5 chooks and seem to be settling in well..... we bought some straw for them to lie on in the chook pen down the bottom and they will eat the scraps that the chooks eat and have their pellets to eat too.

We're hoping come Spring, we possibly get some baby ducklings!! DD would just LOVE that!! She loooves animals!

Any tips for anyone who has ducks? Ideas for food for them etc?

aww how cute! we have the most gorgeous ducks down at the river, some very pretty colours and markings. Hope you get some little ducklings!

Hmmm it's been years since we had ducks as kids, but I'm pretty sure they just used to eat our chook pellets and scraps alongside the chickens??

Hope you get some ducklings too - our 2 were very productive and believe it or not laid 23 eggs in our neighbours stable. We of course didn't think all would actually hatch - all bar one did! It was fluffy yellow mass of 22 ducklings following momma duck for awhile! To this day we still think another duck must have 'laid and run' with all her eggs!
