Yes, I know they're an easy target but I've had two annoying interactions in two days.
1. My "Relationship Manager" buggered up the paperwork for my new home loan, making it principle and interest instead of interest only. Settlement is in two weeks time and when queried he told me it was too late to change which would have cost me $900 in extra repayments over the three months between buying that house and selling this one. When I queried about how it could be too late given that settlement isn't for two weeks, magically it got changed. Only because I kicked up a minor fuss. Otherwise, he would have quite happily let me be out of pocket by $900.
2. I usually pay off my credit card in full each fortnight but lately, because we've been spending quite a bit on final bits and pieces prior to selling the house, I've let it run up so I can pay my tradies. This is no big deal as it will all be paid off again when the house sells. However, because I am letting it get near its limit, the bank suddenly offers to increase my limit from $7000 to $11,500 because it looks like I'm having difficulty paying it off so they will make more money from me in interest. Interestingly, when I WAS paying it off in full each fortnight, they never sent a letter offering to increase my limit because I'm exactly the sort of credit card customer they DON'T want.
