Urgent replies Please, need dentist at 1 day overdue!
Ok, so i have a dentist appointment today with the government dentist (In QLD it is free for anyone with a healthcare card) Now i told the lady on the phone that the appoinment she made for me is one day past my EDD she said its fine but didnt really fill me with confindence that the dentist will take me KWIM? Ive already spoken to my midwife and doctor and they both said dental treatment is fine so long as the denist knows, but has anyone gone to the dentist at 40 weeks pregnant and them being fine with it?
I was right at the end of my pregnancy when I went. The Dentist was fine. They just can't take X rays and you will more than likely not be able to lie down for long, so let them know that.
Is it just a check up? As if anything needs to be done, they will more than likely book you in later for that.
up to you hon, i was told by my ob no dentist if you have to have needles or gas, she rather me book the dentist after I gave birth also for any treatment. Depends what you are going in for.
ETA,forgot to add my dentist told me if im pregnant come see me after baby is born.
It is fine for you to go to the dentist. Even if some work is needed. X-Ray is not a problem as the X-Rays are low power and directional. Also your baby is fully formed so should there be any stray X-Rays they will not do any harm
I've been to the dentist more times whilst pregnant this time than I have in the last 10 years.
Had first stage of root canal done a few weeks ago plus a wisdom tooth out last week and a thorough clean.
All fine.
My dentist will basically do anything as long as it doesn't require an x-ray so she could only do first stage of root canal as she will need an x-ray to determine what to do in the second and third stages. So we're waiting until after the baby arrives to get on to that.
