    Ultrasound news :)

I'm not sure how sure he was, but the sonographer thinks we are having another little girl

Heart rate is 138bpm & all looks good.

Only thing I can't get out of my head is the size. I don't think I'm worried, just unsure. My dates weren't a sure thing from the start really. I O'd at an odd time. Not in line with AF at all. At an early u/s baby measured to be due 5th October. This I thought would put me at 19 weeks 1 day.

When I looked over my u/s pics it says bub's is 18 weeks 6 days. I know its perfectly normal to be a few days out, but with all 3 other kids I measured around 4 days ahead at the morphology scan. So this would be a whole week behind where I was expecting to be at.

I'm not sure what to think. Maybe thats just where the computer thinks I'm at just going off the EDD & has nothing to do with the measurements? It does make sence.

But I can't help but wonder if baby might be slightly smaller than the others? I know u/s aren't accurate & I know it means nothing, but I've been having alot of issues coming to terms with this pregnancy & now I'm being silly & worrying that my stress has affected the baby

Don't worry I know how silly I sound, I think I just need common sense drilled into me. I need to know exactly why the dates say what they do. I guess I'll be able to read my report at the next appointment, so I'll know if its babies measurements, or just the computer guessing from EDD.

Geez, I think I'm losing it!!

    skye.
i wouldn't worry, with your dates being a bit off who knows where you are.

id be thinking along the lines of, all showed normal and ok and within a week of your guestimated dates then all is ok.

so now its time to relax and enjoy your new princess

it is hard not to worry and especially if you have a bubba doing something different to what your used to with previous pregnancies.
i was totally the same with maree. i had terrible morning sickness and just couldnt stand some food. yet i loved those with tay and had no morning sickness.
    and they both measured differently..

    hi clover.

my EDD is the 3rd oct and im 19 weeks and 1 day. so the ultrasounds saying ur 18w 6d means according to ur EDD its dead on.

ur totally not losing it. i no from our belly buddies forum that uve been having trouble coming to terms with this pregnancy. and im sure wat ur feelin its absolutly justified. i hope once u read the doctors report u mind is at ease. as far as i can tell if there is nice hearbeat and the sonographer says everything is ok u dont have anything to worry about.

congrats hunni. a lil girl. such exciting news.
    take care xx

    Clover,

At our 20-week scan, I knew we were spot-on 20 weeks because we conceived through IVF - you can't fake those dates! But the sonogram said that Bub was measuring somewhere between 18 weeks and 19 weeks. I asked the MW later if that meant anything, and she said it means NOTHING but that the sonographers have to have some sort of point of reference to go by, and obviously all babies have to fit into a "scale" - which means some will measure "behind" and others will measure "ahead."

I had a scan at 36 weeks the other day (as part of any ECV) and the sonogram was measuring Bub's head at 37 weeks, and his femur at 35 weeks 1 day. Again, we were told this means NOTHING because what they're really concerned about is whether he measures within "normal" dates for the "average" baby.

FWIW, my Mum knew her dates when she was pregnant with my sister, and was told that baby was "small for dates" and that they would induce her on her EDD because my sister was "sick" (they also said that it was because my Mum was a vegetarian ) My Mum went into spontaneous labour on the EDD, and my sister was 6lbs 9ounces - not large by any standards, but right on "normal" for a healthy baby.

GL - and congratulations on your little girl!

    Everything is fine

Congrats on finding out the gender too! My sonographer didn't check until the very end and couldn't tell because the baby had it's legs crossed and it was being a wriggle bum Have to wait another 7 weeks for the (optional) 32 week 'size' scan.... Pooh

Yeah, thanks all. I know all is fine. I'm just so used to measuring ahead, having tall/long babies!

Mrs Jak - I didn't really want to know. He couldn't tell at first, but right at the end he said he thought it was a girl. Don't know how sure he was though, lol. Only found out for DH.

TBH, I think I'm good at pretending.
Thats a whole other thread though... Sadly, not many feelings at all while watching the screen. Pretty sad.
Trying hard to force myself. Don't think its working. Yet...
