    GRADE SKIPPING in WA

Ok DD isn't starting school any time soon, but when she does, she'll be turning 7 not 6 coz she's a December baby and this annoys me. When I was in school, I was way ahead of my class and for that reason, school bored the hell out of me and I pretended to be sick half the time so I could stay home and play importing and exporting with my teddies..
So if DD turns out like me, I want her in her appropriate class and am hoping (if she is keen) to skip a grade if she starts to seem bored and unchallenged.

Does anyone know how this happens?
Do I put in a request at the school, or the Board?
Who needs to approve it? Can they object?

This is probably silly, seeing as it could all change in the next few years, but I'm dying to know coz this new system really bugs me.

    Hi Misty
Not sure why she would be 7? My oldest is nov 30th birthday and he starts year one next year when he will be just 6 - is that what you are meaning by school? Will you send her to kindy and pre-primary first? The cut off here in WA is June 30th so maybe thats changed since you were at school ( I'm a pomme so didn't go to school here myself so don't know what it used to be like :-) ). Anyway your dd can start kin dy when she's just 4 so she should be middle of the class age wise as a december girl.

sorry - can't help you with the grade skipping but i think they are pretty tight re when birthday are.
