    Quitting Smoking

    No its not me...hehe.

DP is wanting to quit smoking and i was just wondering if anyone in BB land has done so successfully and how you went about it? Any feedback on Nicorette or any of those products?

    TIA x

I know alot of people who have quit successfully on the Champix tablets. You have to get them prescribed by your doctor. I was on them but thought I was pregnant (a while back) and stopped taking them, turns out I wasn't lol. But they really do work. My sister did them not long ago and she's not had one smoke since. And the best part is, you don't have the withdrawl symptoms, because it simply just turns off your nicotine receptors. HTH.

Thanks for that!! Do you remember roughly how much they cost & how much the doc prescribes? (How long til you have to go back for more) & how long did you have to take them before you were off smoking? Any side effects? We both have a feeling DP is going to get a little snappy & with my pg hormones and him being snappy i dont see it going very well haha

The Easy Way to Stop Smoking by Allan Carr - This book CHANGED MY LIFE!!! Have a Google hun, it's a quit smoking phenomenon! I read it within 2 days of finding out I was pregnant and had quit within 3 days! And I know 100% I will NEVER smoke again! Can't stand it! I am free and loving it! I know some people aren't readers but this book is soooooooo worth the read! Most people who read it quit absolutely cold turkey and never go back...Amazing stuff.

There's 3 prescriptions hun. 1st prescription you get two boxes that goes for two weeks, then before the two weeks is up you go back to the doctor to get the next prescription etc... From memory its about 30 bucks per prescription. The only side effects were a bit of nausea and stupid dreams (much like being pregnant eh) i've quit cold turkey before and on the champix i wasn't snappish at all. Because you have 15 days to quit from when you first start taking them. You just smoke like normal, and after a couple of days you notice that they start to REALLY taste like crap (sounds stupid but i'm sure smokers will kwim) and you just find yourself smoking less and less and you don't even really miss it cause it' turns off your receptors so you dont crave it.

    WOW! congratulations
Ammaki- make DH to smoke a whole pack straight after eachother. Fill a waterbottle up and put all the ash and butts in there and when he craves a smoke give him the bottle to sniff. :P hahaha
