    Backpack Style Carrier

DH & I are looking at carriers for an upcoming holiday. What do you recommend for an older baby? We were interested in the framed backpack style carriers. This is mainly because DS would be sitting up high & able to see, plus for our comfort with wearing him all day. Are there any other options? The pictures I've seen of soft carriers have bubs sitting quite low, are they all like that?

Ergo all the way. It is so comfy, most things hurt my back a lot but i could wear the Ergo all day. We took DD to WOMADelaide at 1yr 3months and carried her around for 3 days. They ride low on your back but they can see a lot, she loves it. ALso I wore it at the front when she needed a cuddle or sleep.
    Love my Ergo

I saw a Kathmandu brand one when out and about recently that is similar to what you are describing. Bubs looked quite happy up nice and high.

That being said I have an ergo and I love it. So versatile and comfy.

We have a kathmandu one and it is awesome - however, don't ever buy one full price as when they have sales they sell them half price.

We have a Deuter pack. It was bought for us as a present by friends who are keen hikers. They said they checked out the Kathmandu and chose the Deuter because it was a better design and had a longer harness (my DH is VERY tall). That said, they were not looking to save $$ so I imagine the Deuter was a fair bit more expensive. Friends of ours who only buy the best (not in terms of brand, but design) also chose a Deuter. I have not personally looked at anything else nor seen the Kathmandu, but just thought I would share. In any event, as Nai says, don't ever buy things from Kathmandu at full price, because they always have 50% off sales (you can join their club and get further discounts and advance warning of sales.

We have the Kathmandu carrier (got it on sale) to use on a trip in the NT when DD was 18 months old. DH used it and said it was comfortable. DD loved being up there, especially being high enough to pull off daddy's hat!
