I'd keep going with the olive oil xoxoxo
ETA - oh he is lovely! Congratulations!
Our gorgeous 2 wk old DS has had dry, peeling skin since he was born. We have been using olive oil and massaging morning and night, but he's still a little peely man - all over (arms, legs, hands, feet, belly and face). Is there anything else we could use that might work better, or do we continue with the olive oil? We don't use any creams/lotions/wipes etc on him at all and I'm a bit reluctant to try commercial products with lots of chemicals.

Yep olive oil did the trick for us, we put it on after every bath, I guess it could take a little while to work if his skin is really dry?
Does it seem to be getting better or not making a difference?
Congratulations on your gorgeous little man![]()
I remember once using an ointment on myself, I think it was called Chickweed ointment. It was SO greasy, I used it for my eczema, it kept my skin really moist.
I personally think it wouldn't be any better than olive oil, but you could give it a try.
Good luck!
EDIT: I forgot to say the Chickweed ointment was given to me by a naturopath, but check the ingredients anyway to make sure.
For our baby, who was 2 weeks over due, we used Alpha Keri Oil in the bath (I don't think it is natural but recommended for eczema, psoriasis etc) then absolutely smothered him in MooGoo Udder Cream. It took about a week for all his 'scales' to fall off but it worked a treat! The MooGoo Milk Wash is also divine!
I was going to suggest MooGoo as well. I used the udder cream on my nipples when I was having trouble with them. It actually worked better than any of the other things I tried, but they have a number of natural creams etc that would work a treat. My Chiro sells it, but I know you can buy it on MooGoo's website![]()
I've persisted with the olive oil and I can definitely see a difference. His little feet still have scales and his face is still peeling (but I haven't really put olive oil there) but everywhere else is looking heaps better. Feels like I'm basting a turkey, lol....
I used Lasinoh on both my babies as they were peeling bad too, poor DD had litte sores on the creases of her wrists she was they dry!! Lasinoh work wonders on faces as it is safe for breastfeeding so I figured it would be ok. Congratulations,
