    Packing with Children

Ok so we move NEXT WEEKEND and i have to get a move in with all the packing... tips tips tips on how i can get through it b/w feeding a 4mth old and a destructive 19mth old.

DD1 is asleep at the moment so have bagged up some toys and put them in the back room, can you believe 5 garbage bags of soft toys alone.

I put all the sheets etc in a big box thismorning after i put fresh ones on and now am going to go round packing the things we don't use every day..... argh i'm not sure it will ever end.

    HELP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would get her to help with all her toys and stuff while she is awake, tupperware, books and others things that can just basically get thrown into a box or bag, those strippy bags are really handy to move that sort of stuff with, as well as linen.

The other stuff I would do when theya re in bed at night or both down for a sleep. DD was about 10 months when we moved and that is how I did it

Can you get Ava minded for a day so you could get a majority of stuff pack...not that I'd expect you to be able to pack in a day but maybe just to get a chunk of it done. I couldnt imagine how hard it would be packing with Lucy she would unpack as i went. Ive moved so many times now that i just pack with out too much fussing and hope for the best
Oh and throw out any junk before you move instead of moving in (gosh i sound like my mum )

I can't do it unless the kids are asleep. I remember last time boxes were being unpacked before I could even seal them.

I just tried to do it as FAST as I possibly could. WHile DS was sleeping, outside playing, bit by bit while he was distracted with something else. I think I even had a box for him to play in while I was packing other boxes up!

Good luck...it's not a fun task!

    Top idea hun.

This is my fourth move in four years. If you have ten minutes when she's occupied have some boxes ready to go in the garage and pack non fiddly stuff. Only really takes ten minutes to fill a box and if you do that a few times a day it goes pretty quick.
Save the kitchen/buffet breakable stuff for Wednesday.
Pack a box specifically to open when you get their. One for you and DH and one for the girls. Essentials - toilet paper, kettle and cups/spoons/coffee etc, toiletries, toys, change of clothes, snacks etc.

MIL is all lined up, she is an hr away so taking Cyclone Ava there Tuesday night and will pick her up Wednesday night.

We have essentials at the house already as we have been doing work there so wont need any cooking utensils etc straight up which helps and then i can just unpack box by box as we go... will leave the girls things til last so they are the first unpacked so i can disrupt them as little as possible.

DD1 has had practice in her mattress on the floor and DD2 will be going into the cot so that might take some getting used to.. can't believe my princess will be in a bed at 19mths old.

    Thank you all... xoxoxoxoxo
