What could this be? Can you get roseola more than once?

I took DS to the doctors on saturday with a temp and a chesty cough/cold. TBH the guy I saw had no idea about how to handle kids so when he tried to take his temp the thermometer wasnt in his ear properly (but he didnt believe me and wouldnt re-take it) said no temp everything was fine, lungs clear, go home it must be a virus - is this your first baby? Took me all my time to not say no 'but I think its the first one you've treated.'

Anyway, I took his temp when we got home at it was 37.9 - not hugely high but not normal either, and certainly not 36.5!!!

Since then he's had nurofen and panadol constantly, neither seem to do much and he has a roaring temp again by the time the 4 or six hours is up.

The only things I can put it down to are teething (he has 7 points coming through ) or roseola which he's had before and was similar - no rash as yet though.

Can they get it more thn once though? I dont hink its just the teeth becuase these have been coming for a good two weeks, coming through, going down etc and its only in the past few days that we've had these temps and Ive been up every 20-30 mins thru the night with him.

I don't know anything about roseola but if you are concerned (and by the sounds of it I would be) take him to a different doctor for another opinion. There is something not right, it may be teething but better to get it monitored by a doctor who knows what they are doing than to leave it.

Good luck and I hope he gets better soon.

Sounds like bronchiolitis it's a virus kids get, it sounds like they have a chest infection but it's all clear, runny noses and infections. After a weeks the fever and nose clear and they are left with a nasty cough.

Thanks for taking thr time to post We got in with our normal gp who said upper resp. Tract infection, which I guess would include bronchiolitis. His temps are still up but he seems a little better. Very unsettled during the day though, but sleep was a little better last night.

To answer your question- yes, you can get roseola twice. My daughter had it at one and then again at two. Diagnosed by my GP. Hope your little one is okay!
