Sick, teething bub not eating much, drinking water ok
DS 12mths has an upper respiratory infection.
Hes not eated much food at all, maybe 2 slices of bread, refused his bottles but drunk water fine all day.
He hasnt slept more than 1 hr all day and then in 10 minute bursts.
He;s fallen asleep, albeit a bit unsettled.
Should I offer him a bottle if he wakes up or just try to settle him to sleep?
Hes also cross cutting 6-8 teeth and has had temps over 38 for at least 24 hours, which comes down with paracetamol or ibuprofen but goes right back up again, especially at night.
GP said to manage this with panadol and come back if its not better within 48 hours, unless it gets worse then to call immediately.
That's about what our GP said to us yesterday with a sick 17 month old, also teething, also not eating, also full of snot - but he thinks that in our case it's a viral thing.
We're just playing it by ear and offering food or bottles or water when he seems to want something and letting him sleep when he seems to need it. If you are worried about keeping his energy levels up, how about some watered down juice? Our GP suggested it, but it doesn't seem to be agreeing with our boy too much.
