Hi, i found this recipe on a link on my FB page. I dont have any eggs so i cant try it out till tomorrow, but if any one does try it tonight please let me know how it goes.
5 MINUTE CHOCOLATE MUG CAKE
4 tablespoons flour
4 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons cocoa
1 egg
3 tablespoons milk
3 tablespoons oil
3 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional)
A small splash of vanilla extract
1 large coffee mug
Add dry ingredients to mug, and mix well. Add the egg and mix thoroughly.
Pour in the milk and oil and mix well.
Add the chocolate chips (if using) and vanilla extract, and mix again.
Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes at 1000 watts (high). The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don't be alarmed! Allow to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate if desired.
EAT! (this can serve 2 if you want to feel slightly more virtuous). And why is this the most dangerous cake recipe in the world? Because now we are all only 5 minutes away from chocolate cake at any time of the day or night!
I have had this and it is sooooo YUMMY. If you're gonna have good old chocolate cake make sure you add a scoop of creamy vanilla ice cream too YUUUUUM!!!
Oh, it's good. EVIL good.
IMO it needs bucketloads of choc chips in it, though... I've tried it without and just wasn't keen on it. I use squares of chocolate off a block and stuff them in the bottom of the mug before pouring in the batter, it makes a nice squishy chocolately surprise in the bottom
I make this every so often and I totally agree with Glamourcide. You really need the choc chips plus I had to cook it in our smallish glass pyrex dish because I don't have mugs big enough and it was a disaster in the microwave. DH likes it with icecream.
I remember last years thread and never got round to making it - made it tonight and oh my it makes a great pudding - you do need a big mug though - don't know how I'm going to keep DH from not wanting it every night
It makes a bit much for my coffee mugs (which are pretty 'average'-sized), so I just mix it in a cereal bowl and cook it in that. Add spoon, a blob of cream... hellooooo thighs!
Actually, I made this last year and found it pretty bland. But we didn't add any chocolate chips or chocolate pieces, which would probably add a bit of flavour.
^ Definitely go the choc chips next time, Schmick, I agree about the blandness. Also fun to try things like Caramello, peppermint creams, Mars Bars etc etc broken up/chopped and stirred through - little gooey surprises in there
I did use choc chips and found it quite rich - also had it with cream as a pudding style thing - don't know whether it would pass as a cake with coffee style thing
