What does chicken pox look like?

Ok so i know they are red itchy dots but how and where do they start should i be looking for a temp and are they itchy straight away?

My son's started with a couple of them on his back. The next day he had lots more all over him. They looked very like pimples. So red with a raised white bit on them, although people usually describe them as a clear spot on red, they did not look like that to me. He wasn't scratching them until two or 3 days in. I can't remember if he had a temp. I don't think he did.

the night before my spots came out I was just under the weather slight temp, the next morning I woke and what felt like a heat rash or pimples on my back, within a hr they were down my arms and onto neck, within 3 hrs I was covered in them HTH!!!
