We have just moved into a new rental house and i cant for the life of me get my oven to work!!!!
It a chef wall oven fan forced thing... um its silver... it has a temperature knob on the right hand side- and next to that is another knob that i has fan forced, turbo grill or grill.
On the left there is a time display and two buttons that set the clock and set the oven to auto - i just have no freaking idea how to do it!!
We have a book- but it is no help whatsoever!!!!
Does anyone have an oven like this and can give me SOME IDEA how to make it work????
Is the clock on? IF it's not go to the meter box and see if it has its own switch and make sure it's on.
Or press one of the buttons on the front and see if it changes modes. My oven isn't a chef but I have to change 'modes' to make it work sometimes. Turn the temp dial on and turn the other one to fan then press the button near the clock until it starts working.
clock is set, we have tried it set to fan and not set to fan- we have tried hitting both the buttons- one of the buttons- we have gotten it to work once - but we dont know how!!!
The only other thing I can think of is the auto light flashing? If it is then it may not turn on. We have a slightly different model with it's own griller, but if it's set to auto with the light flashing it won't turn on, that setting on ours is to turn off the oven at the end of a set time. You have to reset it to auto or turn it off (the auto) to get it to turn on again.
well we thought we may have had it working- we tried it going with the timer count down and the timer was working- as in it was counting down. but it didnt seem to be getting warm at all- and DH is being impatient and keeps fiddling with it..
Would it take like 20 minutes plus to start getting warm??
it took us forever to get our oven to work when we moved in, then we realised that there is a powerpoint near it that has a switch in the middle that needs to be switched on. Apparently its the oven power switch.. Maybe you have one of them?
Some of the ones with auto timers can be sucky because there is a trick to get them to work. I would suggest checking online for a manual for the model you have. Or check the drawers/linen press/laundry for the manual. Most rentals leave them for the occupants.
We have power to it and we have a manual- and we followed the instructions but it just didnt seem to warm up- DH got it to work the other night (so it does work)- but doesnt remember how he did it!! LMAO
We ended up getting the turbo grill going which warmed up the oven enough to heat up the potatoe bake (i had already cooked the potatoes lol) i think its just a matter of playing with it when we arnt under pressure to cook something for dinner!!!
What happened to the old days of turning the knob and the oven comes on????? All these new gadgets- i dont know!!! LOL
Thanks again everyone I will let you know when we have it mastered!!!!
I see you have got it working, but it sounds very similar to my MIL's oven. Hers is both fan forced and convential oven. So you can choose which type you want to use.
Hey hun.. yeh i looked at it and i think it is different to yours.
But now from memory in my old rental place we had an oven that you had to start the timer in order for it to work. And when the timer turned off, the oven would turn off. PITA thats for sure, i think it was a safety thing. But maybe if you can, give that a try. Set the timer on the clock and see if the oven will turn on.
Thanks- yeah i think thats how it works- when we got the timer thing to work the counter definately counted down- but it just didnt seem to get hot- but i might give it a go today and just leave it and see (with out an impatient DH opening the door and pressing more buttons!!)
