What do you use with your cloth wipes?

Im in the process of making some cloth wipes for ds. Im a newbie at sewing so its a good lesson in sewing in a straight line lol. Just wondering what everyone uses on the wipes to clean bums? I was thinking of using just water but is there anything i could add to the water? Any other alternatives to water?

    Thanks!

I generally use water or some Bubbly Bliss, which you can buy from lots of cloth nappy suppliers, there are also similar products from Cushie Tushies, Foaming Wipes Wash

I used water for the first 3ish months- it's the best thing for little newborn bots. Then I switched to bubblebubs foamy wipes wash.

I have some of the coconut Bubble bubs stuff that I got from the gorgeous Lee, and I have to say, that while it smells beautiful - would love to try them all, it really doesn't do anything that water alone or a bit of baby lotion on the cloth doesn't IYKWIM?

i've used fragrance free sorbolene creme with tissues as an alternative...keeps the bum nice and moist and creates a protective barrier.

Kim, ur right it doesnt do anything water couldnt do, but i find with cloth nappies the pee smell is stronger and sticks more IYKWIM? and fragrance free wipes wash leaves behind the pee smell, the fragranced ones just freshen them up a bit

As Meow said, I believe that just water is best for the first little while. (Though I occasionally used a bit of sorbelene to get rid of "sticky" poos).

I have made my own spray bottle that has water (about 400mL), 3 squirts of sorbelene and 1 very small squirt (1/2 a teaspoon) of a nicely scented baby wash in it. (At the moment its that GAIA bedtime bath). Heaps and heaps cheaper than the premade stuff. You can just buy a spray bottle from a supermarket in the gardening or cleaning area. HTHs.

Thanks for all the replies everyone. DS is 18 months old so im not too worried about using things other than water on his bum and i was thinking the same as skybie that just water might not take the wee smell away.

Skybie that tropical punch sounds devine *runs off to mister google*

Sorbolene in a really big pump pack. Lasts for ages and moisturises DDs skin while getting the heavy-duty poos off! I can't stand using anything but cloth wipes on DDs bum these days, the baby wipes just aren't as effective as cloth wipes

I feel like my son is 'cleaner' with the wipes wash. The scents are divine and it contains soaps from olive & coconut and apricot kernal oil so it makes his skin feel nice

I use babywash from the supermarket with water. I get the wipe squirt a bit of wash on it then wet it under the tap and use. Quick, easy and cheap.

I have a spray bottle with a little baby wash, a little baby oil and water, works a treat, Now that its chilly nothing beats a nice warm flannel and Mr 3 months seems to love the warmth on his gorgeous bottom. i had no idea about all these wahses. Might have to check it out but pretty happy with our systems.
When we go out we put some wipes in a wetbag and tip some of the spray bottle wash in to wet them, works really well
