HELP!! i accidently shrunk my new wool cover

hi, i bought a new wool cover today (my 1st one) and decided to wash it before i used it. anyway i followed the instructions and have managed to accidently shrink it! can anyone help me to fix it? i read somewhere about putting it in a bucket of hair conditioner and cold water then stretch it by hand. i am not sure if that is correct or not or if there is another way to fix it. i would love to fix it so i dont look silly if i have to take it back (it took me an hour to drive down to the store from where i live).
any advice is very much appreciated!!

Sorry love But once its shrunk it can be stretched.. did you wash it in warm??

No did it on a cold gentle wash. Only slightly smaller then it's original size. Hopefully it won't matter too much
