Which date to start from?

Ok, so I'm a little confused as this hasn't happened to me before. So, on 12th & 13th May I had some light brownish spotting. Then it stopped. On the 16th AF arrived (red blood, heavy). Which date would I say is CD1???

I say 16th, just because when I used to put signs into FF, that's what it would use - it never counted spotting, only proper bleeding.

I personally would discount the Spotting and Start from the actual bleeding. Have you been charting and temping? If so then that will (once you stat to ovulate) give you your answer....lol it's so confusing hey! Lucky we have bb to help is out! I'd be screwed without all you guys! Thankyou!! I'm not charting or temping. We are TTC #2 and this has not happened to me before. For now I'm trying to take the relaxed approach, hoping that will work LOL! It took us about 7 months to fall with DS and I thought maybe it's because I got a little obsessed.... Anyway, it was a spur of the moment decision to go off the pill and we said if it happens it happens. But I do want to try and track when I'm ovulating.
