Question Dehydration and trying to stay Hydrated

Ok when I saw the Chinese Therapist the other day he could tell that I wasn't sleeping we dehydrated and most likely a link to me having low amniotic fluid.

But I am drinking heaps, I easily crack 2+litres a day, but my lips are dry and cracked, my hands are dry as bones especially in the webbing and cracking and bleeding at the knuckles at times.

I can drink 600-800ml in one hit and it doesn't feel as though it has hit the spot at all.

Should I be having some hydralyte or similar to help or just keep drinking more? I am finding it hard to drink as much as I am, and I am having small amounts of orange cordial in my water to help with the absorbtion, but don't seem to be getting anywhere.

Fluids are mostly water, weak cordial, weak tea, milk.

    What are your thoughts?

I think t would be a good idea to get your blood sugar checked just to be sure. Excessive thirst is a sigh of diabetes.
I usually recommend that pregnant women should drink between 2 and 3 litres a day depending on how active they are and how hot it is.
A quick urine test could also indicate if you are dehydrated and also check for a UTI.
Not sure where you are but if you are close to the Tablelands I could pop round to your place and do the above tests for you, it would only take a couple of minutes.

Thanks Alan for the offer if I was closer I would have taken it up, but it would involve a flight to SA

Can I grab a urine test from the chemist? Urine is quite pale in colour, so dark at all.
I will give my OB's office a call in the morning as well, I can probably just drop to the GP to get a BLS reading done in the morning.

If your urine is pale it is unlikely that you are dehydrated.
Another thing to consider is that your body is now increasing its normal fluid volume. By about 30 your fluid volume can increase by as much as 80%. If this is the case I would expect your thirst to start to ease within the next few days
