Paypal help - wrong funding source

So I won an eBay item and went to pay by paypal but I accidently used my old eBay bank acct (old in the ense that I don't use it now and there's no money in it - it is still open). I tried to use my CC which was my intention all along but eBay thinks I've paid already because of the mistake with acct.

I have sent the seller a message explaining what's happened and asking for their paypal email so I can pay for the item.

Is that the right way to go about it? Or should I do somehing else? I really want to sort it asap as I want the item to get here as quickly as poss. ( it's coming from the uk)

Is the old PayPal account still linked to your bank accounts? If it is it will just take the funds from the bank account rather than the paypal account itself.

I think you've done the right thing though, but if the payment fails you should get an email notifying you, same as if it goes through successfully so I'd just make sure that it has failed so you aren't paying for the item twice ITMS

Ooh I should clarity.
Its bank acct that's old. Paypal acct is the same but it's still linked to the old bank acct which is empty.

So I should wait to hear from the seller, or will eBay let me pay again when it works out the payment has failed?

ahh ok. Can you mark the payment as unsent from Ebay? That way it will let you do it again.
