Have you cleaned your filters out? It could be that the filters are blocked so the old water isn't draining out properly.
Ok, so I've been having some problems with my front loader...in particular dye runs. I'm always careful to seperate the loads, but my slapdash DH occasionally leaves a coloured item in the drum before putting a whites load on...underwear elastic in particular seems to attract the colour. The problem I have is that the colour runs from previous washes seems to be migrating from item to item so that now every pair of undies I own has gungy grey elastic.
I don't want to turn the temperature down because we've been having problems with cottons turning a dingy colour on lower temps...and the problem has now spread so far I'd have difficulty locating every item for a bucket of dye run remover (though I *wish* DH had just fessed up after first incident!!!) ... but I'm wondering if there's any product you can chuck in the wash that acts like "magnet" and soaks up any stray dye...that I could use in every wash??
Any other creative solutions?

Tinks I will check that but I think DH did this recently...plus the machine is only a few months old.
Colour catchers.
Fantastic little items, they are! They come in a dark blue box and are found in the laundry aisle... you just chuck one in with each wash and no more dye runs.
I usually only get them when I've got new items that I think may run... or if there's a new multi-coloured item. After a few washes when the sheets come out clean I know they aren't needed any more.
