My girls school changed uniforms at the start of the year. While they have the standard uniform from Big W, they do not have the uniform with the logo as yet. We are working on it now DH is working, but we have alot more important bills we are trying to catch up on first. Rent, water bill, school fee's & we still haven't paid for the school swimming scheme they did back in March.
Right now the logo on the uniforms is far from priority.
Well today the school has sent a note home with DD1 saying the P & C has decided to provide a free pack of 2 shirts & a jumper to each of them.
I feel like, wow, I'd love that! One less thing for us to worry about, but at the same time, I feel like I shouldn't accept. I know they wouldn't offer for no reason & I'm sure they are offering to others, but I feel a bit odd about it. I wasn't in the best mood when reading it after a fight with DD1 & almost said they can shove it, feeling slightly judged for being too broke at the moment, but I highly doubt thats the reason this has been offered.
I also feel upset & guilty that its come to this. Like I should be able to provide for my own kids without help I've felt bad since the start of the year & they know I'm having problems, coz I've ordered & cancelled our order before.
Why do I feel like this? They've sent it saying to return the slip only if you DO NOT want to take part in this offer, so I kind of see it as they are trying to help people, but they don't want to make a huge deal about it I guess. Or they don't want other parents to know maybe. I dunno. I guess I should be greatful. I am greatful, I just feel like crap having to be given this offer iykwim...
I'd take it.
I know how it feels being behind in bills we were bhind in mostnfnours for months and only just getting back on track.
I also know how it feels to be offered this sort of help, and it's really hard for me to accept.
But particularly in this case I'd jump at the offer as it means the girls uniforms will look like everyone elses iykwim? So they don't feel different?
hun, I would take it. These things can be expensive and I know at our school, we often let things slide and no parent is ever judged. We just let things slide because we do not want the children in anyway to miss out on an excursion or a text book or uniform. We want all the children to be included in things and not feel different. I promise you that they arent judging you, just trying to help out as your children and you are an important part of the school community.
I would accept it. There is no reason to feel bad about it. You said that it was hard for you to find the money to get that specific item and now an opportunity has presented itself where you can get it
You're all right, I know. I just have had a few handouts this year, including Vinnies etc, so I guess I feel now that DH is working we really don't deserve it any more.
I am going to take it, since in the same newsletter we also got our school photo order envelopes, I just kinda feel that its unfair that I recieve this now, when I have friends who are single mothers & they've managed to come up with the money for it iykwim. But then, they do only have one child at the school, so half the price. Now i've thought about it, I am very greatful they are doing this. It doesn't happen everywhere!
oh Clover dont feel bad at all. We all have times when we need a lil helping hand.I to struggle to get my boys their school ones. I have got them pants and shorts from BigW and they have only had 2 school tops for the past 1 1/2yrs only last term did i have enough to get them 2 more each. School ones are stupidly priced.I remember when i went to school my mum could buy the school logo so we would buy tops ect from bigW then just iron on the logo.Im surprised they dont give that option nowadays. It would help so many of us out. But then again it comes down to how much profit the school can make i guess
