Baby bonus, installments or lump sum?

Hi there-

I was just curious as to what the changes are with the baby bonus and wether it changes from state to state on whether you get installments or a lump sum.

I dont mind either way- just trying to do some budgeting and i have been told by someone in QLD that they recieved the lump sum, but everyone i know from VIC got it in installments and now i have moved to the ACT so dont know what goes on here.

I tried the clink website and it wasnt much help.

I'm pretty sure its fortnightly installments all over. In circumstances I won't go into, you can have a lump sum, but I read there is no choice anymore, its all installments

I am from Qld and i have not had my baby yet but i am under the impression that i will get it in installments!!! Will be interested to see what has happened to others!!!!!!

thank you- i was pretty sure it was all installments- the person from QLD was second hand info- which i think my friend got wrong!

Yip Definately installments in QLD. I am currently recieving mine and its on a different day from my family tax benefit too.

baby bonus is a payment from the federal government so all states fall into the same category - it's paid in installments of approx 398 per fn for 13fn's - you can't change payment date - if you receive your first payment on a monday, you'll get the next 12 fn's on the same day

Yep, I'm in Canberra too and just got my first installment of $398 the other day.
