Home-made disposable wipes? How?

After DS breaking out in an awful rash after ABs and some very acidic poo I'm ditching the commercial baby wipes and want to make my own. Has anyone got any instructions or suggestions? Most of the stuff I've found on-line suggests a good quality paper towel (a friend has recommended chux wipes cut in half) and sitting them in a container with some water, and maybe an oil of some kind (olive, apricot I've seen as options) or a natural baby moisturiser. Has anyone got any other recipes they've used or even a ready made wipes solution I can buy that is good? I'm only after natural products.

And before you suggest cloth wipes, we've BTDT and it just doesn't work for us so we're after something disposable still.

I've heard of toilet paper (obviously it's soft as it's made for bots... and it's flushable!) with sorbolene. You can put one in an old round disposable wet wipes container (I think) with water and oils if you want to... but I'm not sure if it would start falling apart once wet. I'm sure I've seen online instructions for that though- all I remember is you remove the cardboard roll from the centre first.

I had a friend who used cheap chux cut up but that doesn't seem very eco-friendly for my liking.

Google "How to Make Baby Wipes at Home" for instructions for paper towel. But don't use baby oil- it's nasty. Some baby body wash like gaia and sweet almond oil or apricot kernel oil would be nice.

Thanks meow, I have watched a few demos with paper towel or loo paper but I can't see it holding together for very long. I was surprised that some of them recommended baby oil - I agree, that stuff is nasty - no way am I using that in there! I'll keep looking but any more suggestions would be great.

I made up the roll of paper towels and they worked well. Unfortunately the solution I made up went manky before I finished the roll ...

See, I've wondered about that exactly Kazbah. What did you have in your solution? I guess it will be trial & error for a while as to how big the batch needs to be before it gets manky and is a waste.

I went with the baby bath / baby oil mixture (in my pre-educated days)

i have just bought a foaming pump pack from cusshie tushies. i haven't tried it yet but it says it alcohol & chemical free, natural plant-based ingedients, non-allergenic and gentle on skin. There is more info on their website. Will let you know how it goes .

Thanks Kate I'll be interested to hear your thoughts. Is that one of the solutions you add to a wipe as you use them, rather than sitting wipes in a solution?

Yep. I use the foamy wipes wash from bubblebubs and it's delish. I'm just not sure how they would go on paper wipes- maybe not wet enough to soften them?

I use the nappy liners from the supermarket when the have been washed thru with the nappies. You know what I mean? They are not the flushable ones so I use them andd the ones that were just wet not soiled (obviously) get washed thru with the nappies. Sometimes I can reuse them as liners again but I usually put them in an old wipes container with a bit of water and baby wash. They are nice and soft.
