    Question Steam mops!

OK so i have been watching the ads on the telly, you know the one on the morning show with the honey trick blah, blah

Do they really work? i hate mopping the floor and with a dog that still pees on everything im thinking this is a more hyginic option as it will kill 99.9% of bacteria! again today after cleaning with washing powder and detol i can still smell it in the carpet!

does anyone have one? are they any good. i would also like to use the one with the handheld part so i can do my tiles and around the bath.

Please advise! is it a waste of money or are they great

    thanks from gadget girl! hehe

We have had a steam mop for about 8 years and love it! I hate using chemicals on my floor, especially with kids as they tend to lick it, eat food that has fallen on it etc so I have founbd it to be great. See if you can find a shop that actually stocks them - I think most vaccuum cleaner places do - and you can check them out in real life before buying.

You can't/shouldn't use steam mops on floor boards as it warps the wood. That's all I know about them. I am curious too if they really are that good at cleaning wet areas.

I use ours on our wooden floor but our is hardwood and is about 100 years old - doesn't seem to have done any damage but I would check that out. It is great on tiled areas.

i have one but dont use it often now I found that to keep the floor clean how i like it i had to mop with the steam mop everyday And had to keep re-filling the tank. I now use a normal mop but got a vac that cleans carpets and that is great! lol

I have the steam mop that is advertised on "The Morning Show" H2O I think it is called (have leant it to a friend so she can trial it). I would do a lot of research before paying for this model. Water leaks as you mop and I have to go around after on my hands and knees wiping up the dust and left over dirt that hasn't stuck to microfibre. Also the carpet attachment doesn't clean anything.

ditto that..have the h2o its no good for carpet...for carpet you really need a steam vac like a bissel or wertheim.....and then a deciated steam mop for the timber...I think any appliance that claims to do both tends to not do one very well at all.....

DF was going to get me one for mother's day...I'm still waiting! And the damn dog broke my other mop, bouncing around like a maniac and knocked it over breaking the plastic on it

I can't remember the brand he was looking at, but he did go down to Retravision to have a look at them (apparently they all sold out the weekend before, must have been a blitz on steam mops )

bissell do a small steam vac for pet messes quite cheapish as steam vacuums go...my sis has one and it is awesome for spot cleaning that sort of stuff! It has a smaller head than the larger models costs around the $250 mark.....

I inherited the KENWOOD yellow steam mop and I LOVE IT!!! My mum gave it to me when she bought the H2O steam mop. She said its good but when she tries to do things like the carpet on the stairs, its a pain because the carpet attachment doesnt clip on. She is going to lend it to me next weekend so I can do my rug. I will be able to see how good it is then.

I love mine....but I do mop with normal mop first, as it gets food and sticky bits off. Then I steam mop.
    Love it!!!
