    Wild Yam as contraceptive?

    Hi girls,
Just stumbled across a thread on another forum regarding the use of Wild Yam as an herbal contraceptive. I've checked out a couple of links about it but wanted to see if anybody here has any knowledge or experience about it.

I'm currently taking Yaz to treat symptoms of PCOS as well as preventing pregnancy... well it's doing a fabulous job of stopping babies, poor DH hasn't seen me naked in nearly 3 weeks because I've been bleeding since I started taking the damn stuff *rolls eyes*!! And as far as treating the PCOS symptoms... yeah, not so great with that, either, I'm still feeling sick as a dog and crampy as heck.

I'm off to the doctor as soon as I get the time to sit down and review the Yaz, but in the meantime would LOVE to learn more about herbal contraceptives if anybody can help out.

    TIA

From what I've just read, it's all about the dosage?? Sounds pretty odd to me, but the herbalist who supposedly used it successfully for three years to prevent pregnancy, then just upped her dosage to encourage pregnancy?
    Lol this is weird!!

It could be to do with the dosage this book doesnt say anything about doseage just about 2 pages of how it works to encourage conception and some recipes (where do you get yam from? i know its different but similar to sweet potato!) i may have to investigate this!

Yeah, wild yam boosts fertility and regulates your cycle - there is a cream you can get for menstruating women and one for menopausal women, which can't be used in conjunction with contraceptives as it basically negates the contraceptive.
