Yesterday I opened a box of clothes that were passed down to DD, they have been in our cupboard for a year while she was getting big enough to fit into them. On the bottom of the box was a dark, dark blue vinyl (I think) coat which had gone all sticky in the box, this isn't really a problem as I don't really like the jacket, the problem is that it has put dark sticky marks on a beautiful light pink puffer vest that I do want to use. Does anyone know how I can get the sticky dark marks off the vest? I tried picking off the excess and then preened it and washed it, but no good Any ideas Domestic Godesses??????
oooh seriously, if you find a stain that looks like it might be a bit difficult to shift, do nothing until you research!
If its vinyl, do you mean the plastic has sweated? As a plastic, you could try white spirit and then wash in a pure soap like sunlight or lux flakes. Just put something behind the stain (like a folded clean nappy) and then dab the stain from the outside in with the spirit, using another clean cloth to do that. Or you could try drycleaning. *do* check the puffer jacket instructions though, if it says do not dryclean, then don't use white spirit.
I would suggest trying Orange Power or Goo Remover, they are citris based, you would poor some on the area and let it sit for a few minutes then wash in your washing machine I'd put your washing liquid directly on the area and have your machine on heavy duty and hope it comes out! Good Luck!
